Geek may be a four letter word, but then, so is cool
My husband's favorite childhood memory may involve cracking open his brand new Atari game system and having a marathon Pong session, so it's no surprise that he grew up to be a tad tech-obsessed. Which is why I got him a copy of Geek Dad: Awesomely Geeky Projects and Activities for Dads and Kids to Share for Father's Day. Written by popular Wired.com blogger, Ken Denmead, this book has dozens of family-friendly activities that are as simple as finger painting with wind up toys or as intricate as an amazing project to create a light-up kite. Each chapter includes a list that clearly explains the supplies needed, the complexity of the project and the amount of time it should take, from twenty minutes to a couple of hours. (Of course in my house it would be more like time it will take to spread out all the pieces everywhere and then go take a nap.) Seriously, I can't wait for my son and hubby to flip through Geek Dad and decide what geeky -- and by geeky I mean cool -- activities they want to do. While they're busy with that, I can go take a nap. Hey, who says Father's Day can't have a little Mother's Day squeezed in? Buy Geek Dad: Awesomely Geeky Projects and Activities for Dads and Kids to Share  at your local bookstore or from our affiliate Amazon. And for more Father's Day gift ideas for every kind of dad, check out our Father's Day Gift Guide.
