Know what your school needs? A bar.
Could your local school use a salad bar? Because I sure know that ours could. Well, believe it or not, you can possibly get one --free-- thanks to a grant by the Salad Bar Project.

But you need to hurry.
Chef Ann Cooper, Whole Foods, and TheLunchBox.org are spearheading an ambitious effort to bring a salad bar to every school in America, a cost-efficient, easy way to improve overall nutrition in a world where Pizza Day is one of the healthier choices of our school menus.

You've got until November 15 (that's tomorrow!) to apply for a grant to bring a salad bar to your school, along with all necessary equipment and training materials, provided your school participates in the National School Lunch Program and is within 50 miles of a Whole Foods store. That's kind of like everywhere, these days.

Applying for a grant online is easy if you have the signatures of your school's leaders and some basic information. Basically, fill it out today, then grab those signatures tomorrow at drop-off and you're good. You can also donate to the Salad Bar Project through the website or at your local Whole Foods store.

If you believe that every child has a right to fresh fruits and veggies, please check out the project. And remember: Your child is much more likely to eat raw veggies if you're not around, waving a pennant and cheering.~Delilah

Visit www.saladbarproject.org to learn more and apply for a grant to bring a salad bar to your school. Be sure to read the guidelines and apply by November 15!
