For some reason my daughter has been obsessed with the idea of make your own cupcakes lately. Oh wait...I remember why. Because cupcakes are good. Or at least they're supposed to be. We've tried a few DIY kits recently have been hardly worth the calories. (HFCS frosting? Yuck.) And then recently we sampled the goodies from Saint Cupcake, whose cupcake kits give new meaning to OH GOD YES. Portland's Saint Cupcake does as magnificent a job as I've ever seen with a make-your-own cupcake kit. Start by choosing your fresh-baked cupcake flavors, from vanilla, chocolate and red velvet to more adventurous flavors like pumpkin spice or vanilla toffee. There are even vegan flavors for those of you sweet on cupcakes but not butter and eggs. Then select your frostings and toppings (mmm...coffee buttercream), and add optional accessories like adorable Valentine's toppers, pretty candles or greeting cards for all occasions. Finally, sit back and ferociously count down the 48 hours until your exquisite gift box arrives at your door. The kits make a spectacular gift for a sweet-lover in far-off places. I've only tasted a couple of the flavors, but am ready to taste more, despite protests from my thighs to the contrary. Considering they start at just $12 for a fully decked-out box of 3, I don't even need Valentine's Day--or my kids--for an excuse. -Liz Order delicious make your own cupcake kits from Saint Cupcake. Or if you're in the Portland area, give them a ring for all kinds of custom goodies including singing cupcake telegrams! We're sorry, but this item is no longer available.
