We've been huge fans of Zutano's durable, mix-and-match baby clothes going way back to when our own firstborns were living them--and we have the pictures to prove it. The spring line is so adorable that we even featured one of the outfits on Martha Stewart's Baby Shower show last month.
So when Zutano asked if we'd pick out some of our favorites from their new collection to share, we were like...where do we start?
If you're putting together a layette for your new baby, or you're stocking up on shower gifts for the season, here are just few fabulous pieces that we know will get lots of use--and lots of appreciation.
Since moms of girls can get a little tired of all that pink they'll get at the baby shower (let's admit it), we have always liked that Zutano gives girls more choices. The new Balalaika prints are so cool, and look great with blues, oranges, reds and greens. How cute is this little little a-line jumper which is a little more stylized than just a onesie, but still has a convenient snapsuit bottom. Also check out the print in a Baby Bubble. Sweet!

Once that baby becomes a toddler, you cannot have too many little dresses. They're great layered over denim, leggings, little shorts, or even the diaper covers, at least in those early toddler days. (No four year-olds in diaper covers and t-shirts, please.) This new houndstooth print is just awesome. But we also love the puff pocket dress style with the colorful owl print.
A few diaper covers are a total must-have for infants, boy or girl. We got so much use out of ours in the spring and summer, when you can just take the baby out strolling wearing nothing but that and a tee or little dress. Zutano has a lot of cute prints, but you'll get great use out of the solids or simple stripes. A set of three would be a really thoughtful baby gift.
Cargo shorts are so cute on little boys, and super easy to pull on and off. The cargo shorts in the new Golden Gate collection is all colorful vintage autos in a pattern that looks right out of a 60's-era illustrated children's book. But we also love the funky checked shorts in toddler sizes, which can can go from preppy to punky with a pair of baby Chucks and a teeny trucker hat. (Ha.)
We've always appreciated the nice selection of preemie clothes at Zutano, from hats to onesies to the baby kimono top shown here in the Secret Garden print. Even teeny babies deserve super cute clothes too.
Of all the sunhats out there, Zutano sunhats were the ones we kept coming back too for our own kiddos. The brims are wide enough to keep the sun out (especially when baby is too young for sunscreen) and the little chin strap actually keeps it on--helpful when your kiddo hits that "get this thing off my head" stage. Which will happen. There are lots of fun prints, but we like the more neutral pinstripes, especially in a color that you know will match a lot of your baby's outfits.
