The thing about high-end strollers is this: sometimes it's hard to imagine spending all that money when what you really want is a fancy vacation. Or an iPad. Or gorgeous new patio furniture. Not every family needs a break-the-bank stroller. Especially now that there's a great new affordable option available--with undeniably good looks, to boot.
The PEPP stroller from Nuna abides by simple Dutch design to create a less-is-more approach to stroller-ing. For starters, this stroller is a looker. Plain, bold colors (which can be enhanced with optional add-ons like seat liners and foot muffs) pair with black to create a sleek, stylish ride.
The PEPP is also practical, which we definitely appreciate. Priced at a fair $299, it covers all the bases: the ride is smooth, the seat reclines all the way to accommodate all passenger ages and sizes, the eco-friendly fabric is Oeko-Tex certified, and the brake is super easy to activate and release. The PEPP even folds-up nice and flat for easy storage and travel. Bam!
I find the one-handed approach to unfolding and pushing is also a huge asset to mamas who--if their kids are anything like mine were--often have their hands full of wriggling baby when trying to do either of these things. (Yes, I've found myself one-hand-pushing an empty stroller many times while holding a howling baby who really should be riding in it. Just me?)
Minor cons: The storage basket looks roomy, but for some reason it's not particularly accommodating for toting multiple large bags or purses. Some kind of giant carabiner clip would be a worthwhile add-on to increase storage. And speaking of add-ons, all accessories--which include rain cover, car seat adapter, foot muff and seat liner--have to be purchased separately, although that's probably why the base price is so low.
If you're a northerner, note that this stroller probably won't be the easiest to push through the worst winter snowstorms, but if you're looking for a well-rounded ride that will leave room in the baby budget for a few more items, the PEPP is the way to go.
Plus, when you're going out for your 56th try-to-put-the-miraculously-untired-baby-to-sleep walk of the week, you're probably going to need all the PEPP you can get. -Stephanie S.
