Mobo Cruiser Mega Mini: One of the 7 coolest new ride-on toys for kids. Get them outdoors!
With a hint of spring in the air, it's time to take stock of the cool ride-on toys out there so that our kids can stop hibernating with their handhelds and enjoy the great outdoors instead by pedaling, gliding and zooming around our sidewalks and driveways. And if your kids shot up a few inches this winter, you may have a good excuse to consider some new wheels. Here are some of the latest and greatest new ride-on toys that have zoomed into our view that we are certain will make our most adventurous young riders very, very happy.

1. Mobo Mega Mini Cruiser

With its low-rider style, comfy padded back, and easy-steering system, the Mobo Mega Mini Cruiser (also at very top) has the same cool features we loved in the Mobo Mini Cruiser we featured in 2011, but with a couple of add-ons to make it even better for cruising toddlers. Made for kids as young as 18 months of age, a seat belt harness keeps wigglers in place, a detachable push bar lets you control their speed, and a comfy foot rest lets them rest their little legs. I love that this ride-on is meant to stick around for a long time: As your kids get more independent, remove the seat belt and push bar, and kids as old as 5 can enjoy their rad ride.

2. Bennett Balance Bike by Heritage Bicycles

Known for making steel-framed bicycles in Chicago, Heritage Bicycles uses recycled milk jugs to create this sleek little balance bike for toddlers up to ages 5 or 6. This sturdy, though spendy, ride comes in five different colors from speedy red to urban gray. Windy City lovers will appreciate knowing that the cut-out frame was influenced by the design styles found in Chicago’s bridges, though anyone who loves modern design will find their heart go zoom for this sweet ride.

3. Sbyke Scooter-Bike Hybrids

Part skateboard, part scooter, the Sbyke P16 is the same cool Sbyke my kids ride around our neighborhood, but shrunk down in size for kids as young as 5 to ride. With its lean-to-turn steering and wide foot bed, the Sbyke is awesome for daring kids who like a bit of a challenge. For kids 8 and up (shown above), you'll also want to check out the sbyke A20 which can support them (and potentially you) until 175 lbs.

4. Priority Start Beginner Bicycle

The classic-style Priority Start C/B (Coaster Brake) bicycle may be for kids as young as 2, but it's designed with some very cool features that the grownups will appreciate: air-free tires that will never go flat; a lightweight aluminum frame; and an easy-grab handle behind the seat to help guide your new rider as they get started. Even the three-stage training wheels can be adjusted without tools so you can move them up or down wherever you take your cyclist for practice.

5. Micro Kickboard Balance G-Bike Chopper

The much-love G-Bike balance bike (also shown at top) by Micro Kickboard is getting a very cool update with the addition of the G-Bike Chopper. With it's wider-style handlebars and matte black or silver finish, it's perfect for kids who dream of their very own adult-sized chopper some day. Preorder one now, and it'll be ready for cruising in early June 2016.

6. Pickery Pedal Bicycle by Brilliant

The company name says it all. Brilliant's lovely Pickery steel-frame bikes with 18" tires are a great option for beginner bikes ages 5 and up. In trendy frosted mint or shiny radiant red, these beautifully handmade bicycles are picture-perfect for cruising down the sidewalk to the park. And, if your kids aren't quite ready for pedals, check out Brilliant's Biddle balance bike as well, for kids as young as 2.

7. Actev Motors Arrow Smart-Kart

You'll blow their minds with the Actev Motors Arrow Smart-Kart which fits all the fun of a traditional speedy go-kart into a vehicle that also includes high-tech safety features for parents' peace of mind. With its collision-avoidance sensors and a smartphone app that lets you set driving boundaries, top speeds, and even the ability to stop the Smart-Kart immediately, it gives kids as young as 5 a safer option to put the pedal to the metal. But, slow down: This fancy ride won't ship until this summer.
