The Unofficial Guide to Crafting the World of Harry Potter: 30 crafts for kids (and adults) of all ages
With all the buzz about the brand new Harry Potter and the Cursed Book and JK Rowling's recent birthday this past weekend, our kids are starting to catch Harry Potter fever all over again. And whether or not they're ready to imagine him as a full-grown Ministry of Magic employee and dad (gulp!), get them doing more than zoning out to the first eight movies, with the brand new The Unofficial Guide to Crafting the World of Harry Potter. Jamie Harrington has put together 30 clever crafts for kids of all ages into a beautifully produced book, that help reinforce a belief in the power of magic, good vs. evil, and Modge Podge.

The projects that stand out to me as being more doable than others include tie-dye shirts in house colors (yes, a stretch as far as HP themed crafts, but fun nonetheless), a Maurauders' Map Sharpie mug, a simple Spellbook Journal converted from a regular composition book, and a super cool pencil that looks just like a Hogwarts wand.  I also am dying to make the Mad-Eye Moody photo frame covered in googly eyes, because, googly eyes. That said, a lot more of the projects are advanced, and require special tools and supplies to get the results you're looking for, like a pair of golden snitch earrings, or butterbeer lip balm (yum). Fortunately, each project has very detailed directions and photos to help guide you through it, Hermione-style. The big winner of all the crafts for me, though, looks to be the Free Dobby Laundry Hamper, which requires little more than a sign and an old sock affixed to a hamper. Should it help to get your kids putting their clothes in the hamper instead of next to it? Proof that magic is real. Find The Unofficial Guide to Crafting the World of Harry Potter by Jamie Harrington from our affiliate Amazon, or your local indie bookseller.
