If you haven't yet checked out our annual roundup of the the best lists of the best children's books of the year, it's well worth your time. But here's one more book list that really caught my attention: Amazon's list of the states that read the most.
The top 10 hotspots were measured by Kindle reads per state population, so you have to take it with a bit of a grain of salt, because that requires money, a digital reader of some kind, and doesn't account for bookstore sales or library books.
Even so, the results are pretty fascinating.

There are also some interesting local facts when you click on in the interactive map. Like Wisconsin reads more mysteries and thrillers than other states. Alaskans read across the most number of categories compared with the rest of the US. And the tastemakers of California and New York are ahead of the game on preorders, and chose the same top 3 books in 2017 -- The Handmaid's Tale (I'm included in that group), Hillbilly Elegy, and the Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck.
