Online safety and cyberbullying have surpassed the list of parents' concerns over even drugs and alcohol. And we get it -- we have kids who are online too and it can be a little scary to let them loose on the Internet. In fact, 28% of students have experienced bullying, but a full 71% have seen it first-hand. That's a lot of kids and we want to do something about it. That's why we're thrilled to partner up with Google and their Be Internet Awesome program for a #ItsCoolToBeKind Twitter social on Thursday, October 4, 9PM ET. Mark your calendars -- we'd love you to join and help us help other parents to bring more kindness to the internet. We just want to help empower parents to have conversations with our kids about how to be Upstanders (not Bystanders!) with their peers, and offer some smart tips, helpful resources, even a Be Internet Awesome curriculum that teachers can use, so kids are getting good advice at school, too.

How to join: Just show up!

No need to register! Just join us on Thursday, October 4, 9pm ET sharp for our #ItsCoolToBeKind Twitter Social to chat with our editors Liz and Kristen, a few of our lovely Cool Mom Picks editors and contributors, some great special guests, other smart parents like you, plus of course, our partner, Google and their Be Internet Awesome Program. The Interland online Be Internet Awesome game helps teach kids about kindness and cyberbullying (sponsor) In the meanwhile, there's lots you can do. Like: -Learn more about how your family can Be Internet Awesome at this link -Share the online curriculum and resources with your kids’ teachers about the online curriculum so they can introduce these activities in the classroom. -Play the fun online Interland game with your kids to teach them how to be good digital citizens, and help put their kindness skills to the test (above) -Download the Be Internet Awesome pledge (PDF) for your family so you can all commit to being the best digital citizens you can be.
